Jimmy Carter Work Project 2005:
The Jimmy Carter Work Project 2005(JCWP) in Detroit, Michigan was a great success!
With the support of over 1500 volunteers from the United States and around the world,
30 new Habitat homes were built in southwest Detroit the week of June 17-24, 2005.
In the 12-block area named Thurgood Marshall Village, more than 100 family members
now have a place to call home, in a neighborhood that includes a new
park and playground, also built during JCWP 2005.

Habitat Detroit thanks the generous sponsors who
stepped forward with support for JCWP 2005, including local businesses, faith groups,
and national corporations.
Habitat Detroit is proud to have been one of two host cities, along with Benton
Harbor, for the Jimmy Carter Work Project 2005 in Michigan.
Former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn led volunteers from around the
world in Detroit and Benton Harbor in building Habitat homes for partner families.
Across the state of Michigan, more than 230 homes were built as part of JCWP 2005.
