Professionally Facilitated Team Building or Leadership Training with Dennis Blender, Ph.D.

This venue offers companies/organizations an opportunity to structure a customized team building/leadership training experience where your group will reap multiple benefits. This experience provides a real-world environment where team member efforts are required to accomplish a shared goal and there is a tangible result for your participants' efforts. Accomplish more in one day than what could take a year with more traditional training processes.

Through the construction process, the team will examine communication patterns, leadership styles, problem solving and decision-making methods. Lessons learned throughout the day will transfer to your organization, propelling performance and maximizing team results, all framed around a shared humanitarian experience that will make a difference in the lives of a family.

The sessions are planned and facilitated by a professional trainer, Dennis Blender, Ph.D., who has over 20 years of consulting experience in team dynamics and facilitation. He received his Doctorate from Wayne State University in Educational Psychology; his Master of Science degree from Boston University and his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ohio University. The Habitat for Humanity Detroit staff is excited to partner with the Blender Consulting Group regarding the construction aspects of the activities and will assist throughout the day.

  • Minimum enrollment is 10 persons per day. The investment is $750/person and includes a goal-setting meeting and orientation with planners and facilitators. The rewards from this participative, energetic program provide real world community service with an innovative team building experience. Priceless!

Additional benefits of this event are:

  • Your Adopt-A-Day activities begin with a heart-felt welcome and introduction to the day's activities by a Habitat supervisor, followed by a review of all safety precautions required during the day's activities (because worksite safety is of the utmost importance at Habitat Detroit).

  • Then, with guided assistance from a Habitat Detroit staff supervisor, your team will work on specific construction tasks of a Habitat Detroit house under construction. Tasks can include anything from installing floor joists or windows, to siding or interior painting. Participants will work as a dedicated team, and will celebrate at the end of the day as they see the tangible results that come from their combined efforts.

  • Throughout the day, water will be provided along with a boxed lunch. In addition, each Habitat Detroit volunteer will receive a T-shirt, a group photo of their team hard at work, and a Habitat for Humanity Certificate of Participation.

  • Most of all, your team will help make a difference for a working, low-income family, as they purchase a quality, energy-efficient home in which to raise their family.
