An Update From Stephanie Osterland, Habitat For Humanity Detroit CEO 1200 800 habitatdetroit

We’ve been busy answering questions about the recent gift made to Habitat for Humanity from MacKenzie Scott. Most commonly, “Will Habitat Detroit be receiving any funding as part of this amazing contribution?”

While the answer to that question is “No, Detroit was not chosen as an investment area at this time,” we still eagerly applaud the generosity of Ms. Scott. This incredible gift will help further the Habitat mission across the country and will serve countless neighbors in need. The Detroit team is thrilled that Ms. Scott has brought attention to Habitat for Humanity and the importance of access to safe and affordable housing.

Habitat Detroit is focused on providing housing to help families and communities thrive. Our goal is to make a genuine impact and a lasting difference in the lives of those who live and work beside us. With the help of our amazing local supporters, we continue to create safe, stable housing for those in need in the Motor City.

Feeling inspired by MacKenzie Scott? Make a donation today to directly support Habitat Detroit’s efforts right here in our local community. Every dollar donated to Habitat Detroit stays in the Detroit community. Donate today by visiting https://habitatdetroit.org/donation/

But when your home is your biggest investment, as it is for most Americans, maintaining it is a must. Home maintenance can feel like a daunting chore — particularly for a new homeowner who’s never seen a boiler up close, let alone drained one. But it doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. A home operates with the seasons, coming to life in the spring and hunkering down for the winter.
