“Good corporate citizenship” is something that many companies talk about but not all companies practice.
DTE Energy is priding itself on not only “talking the talk but also “walking the walk” when it comes to good corporate citizenship. Towards that end, 13 DTE employees spent a day last month working in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Detroit staff and volunteers and neighborhood residents to improve a home in Detroit’s north end community.
They spent the day doing extrerior improvements to the home of Lisa Arnold through Habitat Detroit’s “A Brush With Kindness” initiative. The work included fence repair, door installation, landscaping, and porch reinforcement.
Since 2016 Habitat Detroit has been focusing neighborhood revitalization efforts in the neighborhood through a partnership with Central Detroit Christian Community Development. DTE also considers the area to a critical site. It operates a service center at the nearby intersection of Caniff and Oakland Ave. which houses over 150 employees.
Habitat Detroit is looking to expand its partnership with DTE for future neighborhood revitalization activities and a major community clearnup involving 300 DTE employees is planned for later this month.
thanks for the wonderful work you’re doing in the neighborhood.
