Accomplishing something once considered a pipe dream, or something you felt you could only daydream about, is an incredible milestone. Habitat for Humanity Detroit is thrilled to be able to bring the lifelong goal of owning a home to many in Metro Detroit. The Rodriguez family are the latest homeowners to able to realize the once far-off dream of owning their own home, thanks to participation in Habitat for Humanity Detroit’s Homebuyer Program.

“I had given up on my dream of owning a home,” said homeowner Rodriguez. “However, being a part of this program allowed me to reach my goal. I have had the opportunity to work alongside some amazing people, both staff and volunteers, who dedicated their time to help families like mine realize the dream of homeownership.”

The Rodriguez home dedication came after years of hard work on the future homeowner’s part. Attending financial counseling, homeowner classes, and putting sweat equity into building the home represent some of the steps along the way to becoming official homeowners.

Habitat Detroit staff, its board members, volunteers who helped build the home, neighbors, and the Rodriguez family were on hand at the exciting and heart-warming home dedication ceremony in January, the first of many anticipated home dedications planned for Habitat Detroit in 2024.
